Milton Friedman was born in New York City (USA), on July 31 of 1912. The hole economics society and intellectuals still recognize him, even after his death, as one of the most renowned and respected economists in the world.
Friedman taught at the University of Chicago for 30 years, contributing to the establishment of a vanguard intellectual community that produced a large number of Nobel Prize winners, including himself in 1976, known as the Chicago School of Economics. In the 1960s, Friedman strongly opposed the US government’s Keynesian economic policies. He is also known for his political philosophy, which extolled the virtues of a free-market economic system with minimal state intervention.
In the 1999 interview conducted by NTU / F (National Taxpayers Union ), Friedman covered the history and tenuous effect of antitrust policies at the time and offered some interesting predictions and information about the Internet and tax freedom. He said that a reliable but discreet method of financial transactions would develop on the Internet in the near future. He managed to predict ten years earlier, the creation of Bitcoin by Satoshi Nakamoto! His speech is as follows:
“The only thing that is missing, but that will soon be developed, is a reliable e-cash. A method where buying on the Internet you can transfer funds from A to B, without A knowing B or B knowing A. The way in which I can take a 20 dollar bill and hand it over to you and there is no record of where came from. And you may get it without knowing who I am. That kind of thing will develop on the Internet.”
Friedman passed away in San Francisco in 2006. He was a unique person and a keen-minded intellectual who managed to leave an important biography, his mark on the world, that will serve as an example for several generations.
